Thoughts for the Sabbath of
2013 February 9

The 23rd Psalm

(Please note: This sermon can be directly accessed on the Internet at http://www.enterHiscovenant.com/Sabbath20130209.htm)

Hi! I'm Pastor Floyd! I wish I had a photograph of you, too, so that I could visualize to whom I am talking! But Yahuah Hayah, the Self-Existent, Eternal I AM, the Creator of the universe and King over it, knows who you are; and that's all that matters!

At this point in your participation in the service, I recommend that you go to Sabbath Ritual and participate in the prayer in which we like to engage each week, as I do each morning, to avail ourselves of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s "Power of Agreement" (Matthew 18:19) for the basic things that all of us must have each day of our lives! Although repetitious and time-consuming, doing that will bless you, the fellowship and all of His children in the universe! It is what some people call "getting prayed up"!

As for the thoughts that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) gave me for this Sabbath, the psalms in His Holy Bible are beautiful, for the most part, particularly His 23rd! I recite it each morning; because it contains language appropriate for exercising my "dominion ... over every living thing that moveth upon the Earth"! (Genesis 1:28) All of us have that dominion; but few of us realize it or understand its power to better our circumstances!

The Lord is my Shepherd! (Psalm 23:1)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ): "2 He who entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep! 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep, by name, and leadeth them out! 4 And, when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them; and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice! 5 And a stranger will they not follow but will flee, from him: for they know not the voice of strangers!" (John 10:2 to 5)

In this passage, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) is establishing an understanding that will help His children appreciate His words to follow, when He will characterize Himself as being "the shepherd of the sheep". (John 10:2)

A "porter" appears to be a servant in charge of the sheep while the shepherd is absent, who knows the shepherd and opens "the door" to him, when he returns to care for the sheep. Understanding from this analogy that "the shepherd is Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) as represented by Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), His "express image" (Hebrews 1:3), we are "the porter", who decides who or what we will permit to enter into our spirits to become what we believe, which faith then determines all else that ever happens to us. Yahuah then continued, through Yeshua, to enlighten "some of the Pharisees who were with Him" (John 9:40):

7 I am the door of the sheep! 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers! But the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door! By Me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture! 10 The thief cometh not but for to steal, to kill and to destroy! I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly! 11 I am the Good Shepherd! The Good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep! 12 But he who is an hireling and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, leaveth the sheep and fleeth! And the wolf catcheth them and scattereth the sheep! 13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling and careth not for the sheep. 14I am the Good Shepherd and know My sheep and am known of Mine! 15 As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep! 16 Other sheep I have, who are not of this fold! Them I must also bring! They shall hear My voice! And there shall be one fold and one shepherd! (John 10:7 to 16)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) now changes, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), the analogy to His being "the door of the sheep" (John 10:7), saying: "All who ever came before Me" (Verse 8) as doors to enter being "thieves" (Verse 8), who are there to rob the life of those who enter into the world through them or into "the way that leadeth to destruction"! (Matthew 7:13)

Of that deadly way, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ): "Many there be who go in thereat"! (Matthew 7:13) And that grieves His heart; "because strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth unto life and few there be who find it."! (Matthew 7:13)

With that procivity to choose the wrong "door" or "gate" being true of so many among Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s children, their listening to the "thieves" offering themselves as the way to go, His statement that "the sheep did not hear them" (John 10:8) is important to notice; because, if that is true, all who did hear the thieves are not Yahuah's "sheep"! (Verse 8) They have lost track of who the true shepherd really is!

Many of the children of Israel who lived in the day when Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) sent Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) to be His "express image" (Hebrews 1:3) either raised sheep or knew about them because of their importance to the economy of that day! So He took advantage of that familiarity with sheep raising to give this analogy to them about His relationship to them; and He knew that they knew that sheep follow the one who has been looking after them and no one else!

When we start life as "one of these little ones who believe in Me" (Matthew 18:6), we know Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s voice in our spirit and are led by Him into "green pastures" (Psalm 23:2) and "still waters" (Verse 2)! But soon we are overwhelmed by other voices bidding for attention, to destract us from His one true voice; and we are led "through the valley of the shadow of death"! (Verse 4)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) wrote, through His psalmist, as one who has been restored to hearing His voice; so, even though such an one might "walk through the valley of the shadow of death" (Psalm 23:4), he can say, with confidence, "I will fear no evil!" (Psalm 23:4)

Again, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) characterizes Himself, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), as being "the Door"! (Psalm 23:4) And, this time, He says of that door: "If any man enter in, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture!" (John 10:9) And, within this context, one can assume that He is speaking of being saved from the thieves and robbers, His clarifying that, "The thief cometh not but for to steal, to kill and to destroy!" (Verse 10)

But, praise be to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM), He is come, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), "that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly"! (John 10:10) So He said, through Yeshua: "I am the Good Shepherd" (Verse 11), explaining that "the Good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep"! (Verse 11)

Such a sacrificial dedication to saving the sheep is not likely with "he who is an hireling and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not" (John 10:12); because "an hireling ... seeth the wolf coming, leaveth the sheep and fleeth! And the wolf catcheth them and scattereth the sheep!" (Verse 12)

Again, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) emphasizes, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), that "I am the Good Shepherd and know My sheep and am known of Mine!" (John 10:14) That's being so, the roles shift! And Yahuah becomes the "Shepherd", while Yeshua is the "Sheep" Who knows Him; He said, "As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father!" (Verse 15) But, what He knew about His Shepherd is hard for us to comprehend! He said, "I lay down My life for the sheep! (Verse 15)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) was talking, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), to "the Pharisees"! (John 9:48) They were among "the children of Israel"! (Deuteronomy 29:1) That is the "fold" that He was addressing! And He said, through Yeshua, to that fold: "Other sheep I have, who are not of this fold! Them, also, I must bring! They shall hear My voice! And there shall be one fold and one shepherd! (John 10:16)

You and I, who were not born and raised within the heritage and culture of "the children of Israel"! (Deuteronomy 29:1) need to be grateful for Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s wanting to include His "other sheep"! (John 10:16) For they were the Gentiles of "all nations" (Matthew 28:19), whom Yahuah wanted through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) His disciples to teach "to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you". (Verse 20)

The disciples' going forth in obedience to that commandment was to be the fulfillment of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s prophecy to Abraham: "In thy seed shall all the nations of the Earth be blessed!"! (Genesis 22:18)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses: "All these blessings shall come on ... and overtake" (Deuteronomy 28:2) those who "shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of Yahuah, thy God, to observe and to do all His commandments" (Verse 1), which explains the wisdom behind Yahuah's commanding through Yeshua His disciples to teach "all nations". (Matthew 28:20) "to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you". (Verse 20)

These "other sheep" (John 10:16), who would hear Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s "voice"! (Verse 16), were to be part of the "one fold"! (Verse 16) consisting of "the children of Israel" (Deuteronomy 29:1) under Yahuah, Who through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) is our one "Good Shepherd"! (Verse 11)

I am not wanting! (Psalm 23:1)

The original psalm has "I shall not want". which is in the future! But, if Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) is the psalmist's Shepherd, He is looking after the psalmist's wants now! So, when I recite this psalm, as I do every morning, I use the present tense!

For one to say "I am not wanting" is difficult, in view of the fact that most of us want all kinds of things; it requires an understanding of one's "dominion" (Genesis 1:28), which permits him to "speak" (Mark 11:23) to his "mountain" (Verse 23) or the thing standing between him and what he wants and command it to "be ... removed and be ... cast into the sea"! (Verse 23)

You can then "believe that ye receive" (Mark 11:24) the removal of anything standing between you and what you want; and "ye shall have" (Verse 24) whatever you have prayed for. If by your "faith in God" (Verse 22) you have received your prayer as fulfilled, you can indeed say "I am not wanting!" (Psalm 23:1)

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures! (Psalm 23:2)

The psalmist is affirming that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) is causing him to live where provisions are abundant! That is a present consideration, which is as it should be and as it is for anyone trusting Him for that consideration!

He leadeth me beside the still waters! (Psalm 23:2)

Water is the essential element other than food in anyone's environment without which we die! Turbulent waters are difficult to drink! So the psalmist characterizes his Shepherd God as leading him where "waters" are moving quietly, for the best enjoyment of them.

He restoreth my soul! (Psalm 23:3)

Paul wrote, "I pray God your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ"! (1st Thessalonians 5:23) We are a "spirit"; and we have a "soul", which is the spirit body from which our physical body is patterned! The word that was translated "soul" means "properly, a breathing creature" (Strong: Hebrew: 5315), which, in the context of this psalm, is a general reference to one's self and not to the specific part of us that Paul's description suggests, which is eternal!

Being eternal, our spirits and souls cannot be depleted; so they are never in need of being "restored"! But, as people with physical bodies, which become tired or weak from physical exertion and lack of food or water, we can well appreciate a Creator Who "restoreth my soul"! (Psalm 23:3)

He leadeth me in the path of righteousness, for His name's sake! (Psalm 23:3)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses: "It shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments!" (Deuteronomy 6:25) So the psalmist is affirming that Yahuah is leading him to "observe to do" or to "guard" (Strong: Hebrew: 8104) or put a value on doing "all these commandments"!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil! (Psalm 23:4)

To affirm, "I will fear no evil!" is to have received, from Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM), His assurance to Abraham: "Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield and thy exceedingly great reward" (Genesis 15:1), which merely reflects the truth of which anyone is aware who "shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of Yahuah, thy God"! (Deuteronomy 28:1)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) is a caring Creator, Who "will rebuke the Devourer, for your sakes" (Malachi 3:11) or for the sake of anyone who is keeping the commandments of His Torah, law and covenant! He wrote, through His psalmist:

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling! 11 For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways! 12 They shall bear thee up, in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone! (Psalm 91:10 to 12)

Thou art with me. (Psalm 23:4)

Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) said, "He Who sent Me is with Me: the Father hath not left Me alone! For I do always those things that please Him. (John 8:29) What would please Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) more than for us to do what He has asked us to do, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses, in His Torah, law and covenant? Yeshua said:

46 Had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed Me! For he wrote of Me! 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe My words? (John 5:46 and 47)

Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)

Two things always carried by a shepherd were his rod and staff! The rod was to ward off predetory animals; the staff, which had a crooked end, was to guide and even to retrieve a stray sheep. That combination used as an analogy for Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s care of His children converts to His "shield and exceedingly great reward" (Genesis 15:1), which is what He said to Abraham He would be for him; "because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My law"! (Genesis 26:5) Yahuah said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):

12 If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine and goeth into the mountains and seeketh that which is gone astray? 13 And, if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. 14 Even so, it is not the will of your Father Who is in Heaven, that one of these little ones should perish! (Matthew 18:12 to 14)

Thou preparest a table, before me, in the presence of mine enemies! (Psalm 23:5)

When one person is enjoying "all these blessings" (Deuteronomy 28:2) and others around him are suffering "all these curses" (Deuteronomy 28:15), the difference is remarkable, to say the least! And that has a good effect on some, who want to know why the difference, which is determined by one's hearkening to "the voice of Yahuah, Thy God" (Deuteronomy 28:1) and one's observing to "do all His commandments"! (Verse 1)

Sadly, the effect of the difference on others is to resent and be jealous of it and so use it as a justification for persecuting the blessed person; Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):

10 Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven! 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for My sake! 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad! For great is your reward in Heaven! For so persecuted they the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:10 to 12)

Thou anointest my head with oil! (Psalm 23:5)

Whenever a king or a priest was to be chosen, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) would have a prophet pour oil on his head, which symbolically represented the special calling upon him that would be empowered by ha Kodesh Ruach, Yahuah's Holy Spirit! Yahuah wrote, through His faithful apostle John:

9 Thou wast slain and hast redeemed us, to God, by Thy blood, out of every kindred, tongue, people and nation, 10 and hast made us, unto our God, kings and priests! And we shall reign, on the Earth! (Revelation 5:9 and 10)

My cup runneth over! (Psalm 23:5)

Everyone understands that, for the most part, a cup contains something good to drink! As an analogy for Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s care of His children, one can see that the obedient child's life is, indeed, full and running over with Yahuah's goodness! But "upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire, brimstone and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup." (Psalm 11:6)

Surely, goodness and mercy are following me all the days of my life! (Psalm 23:6)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) told Moses: "I will make all My goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of Yahuah, before thee, and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and will show mercy on whom I will shew mercy!" (Exodus 33:19) Earlier, He had explained, through Moses, that He is a God "showing mercy unto thousands of them who love Me and keep My commandments"! (Exodus 20:6

And I am dwelling in the house of Yahuah for ever! (Psalm 23:6)

One is, indeed, blessed to be "in the house of Yahuah! (Psalm 23:6) He wrote, through His psalmist: "I will say of Yahuah, He is my refuge and my fortress! My God; in Him will I trust!"! (Psalm 91:2)

aaa

Surely, "the house of the Lord" (Psalm 23:6) is in His kingdom! And of that kingdom, He said, through Yeshua ha Mawshiyach: "The kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21)

If I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. (Matthew 11:20)

Yahuah Hayah's kingdom is wherever the supernatural power of ha Kodesh Ruach, His Holy Spirit is moving! And, pray tell, where is that Spirit not moving? Is He not keeping the atoms spinning in every molecule of every part of the physical universe?

So, although we are surrounded by this spiritual ocean that comprises Yahuah Hayah's kingdom, only those who are keeping the commandments of His toraw are being blessed by the Spirit that keeps all of it existing! He said, through Yeshua ha Mawshiyach:

15If ye love Me, keep My commandments! 16And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever, 17even the Spirit of truth! (John 14:15 to 17)

I pray that this information I have given you is true in Yahuah Hayah's sight, that it can be stored in your spirit for great and beneficial use to you as the days go by and that we might hear from you now and then as you find it working its wonders in your life!

Father, by my "faith in God"! (Mark 11:22) I "speak" (Mark 11:23), to your children, and command that they be given the knowledge and understanding that you have packed into your 23rd Psalm!

I rejoice (John 15:11) that you are faithful to fulfill your children's powerful use of their "dominion ... over every living thing that moveth upon the Earth"! (Genesis 1:28) I know you answered this prayer, in ha Kodesh Ruach, your Holy Spirit, the moment I said it; and I believe I "receive" (Mark 11:24) a family of brothers and sisters who are rejoicing over the wonderful blessings and eternal life in Your awesome presence into which a knowledge and understanding of your 23rd psalm can lead them.

I pray that Yahuah Hayah shall bless you mightily, throughout the coming week, and that you will realize in your heart how important you are to the ministry that He has given to Faith Harvest Israel to see that His truth is learned, believed and carried out by all His children throughout the world, so many of whom are in such desperate need of it, not to mention our ministry of practical helps for the disadvantaged!

Amen! Alleluia!
