New Cloth and Wine

(Please note: This sermon can be directly accessed on the Internet at

Hi! I'm Pastor Floyd! I wish I had a photograph of you, too, so that I could visualize to whom I am talking! But Yahuah Hayah, the Self-Existent, Eternal I AM, the Creator of the universe and King over it, knows who you are; and that's all that matters!

At this point in your participation in the service, I recommend that you go to Sabbath Ritual and participate in the prayer in which we like to engage each week, as I do each morning, to avail ourselves of Yahuah Hayah's "Power of Agreement" (Matthew 18:19) for the basic things that all of us must have each day of our lives! Although repetitious and time-consuming, doing that will bless you, the fellowship and all of His children in the universe! It is what some people call "getting prayed up"!

As for the thoughts that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) gave me for this Sabbath, He said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):

16No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse! 17Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, the wine runneth out and the bottles perish! But they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. (Matthew 9:16 and 17)

The problem of putting "new cloth unto an old garment" is evident, even for us today, who deal with repairing garments! But the problem of putting "new wine" into "old bottles" is not evident, for us today, in that our bottles are glass, which hold either old or new wine quite well!

The "bottles" for wine in the day when Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) used this analogy were the skins of animals, which indeed held or failed to hold their wine according to exactly the conditions Yeshua described!

Wine is made, of course, by allowing the juice of grapes to ferment! And, when it is put into the "bottle" intended for it, more fermentation can still be expected, which is the "aging" process of the wine after it has been put into its bottle! If the bottle were to be an old skin, which has dried out and become hard and brittle, the expansion caused by the continuing fermentation would cause the bottle to do exactly as Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) described: "break, the wine runneth out and the bottles perish"!

But the bottles made from fresh skins were able, with their strength and flexibility, to expand with the continuing fermentation; and the combination was successful!

This of course was an analogy being used by Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) to communicate a spiritual truth! What was it?

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) prefaced His analogy through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), by having His apostle write:

14Then came to Him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? And Jesus said unto them: 15Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. (Matthew 9:14 and 15)

The "bridegoom" at a wedding is the would-be husband! But in this wedding scene, where is the "bride"?

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) is likening, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), His disciples as together comprising "the bride" or "children of the bridechamber"! He wrote, through Yeshua, through His faithful apostle John:

7 Let us be glad, rejoice and give honor to Him! For the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready! 8 To her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white! For the fine linen is the righteousness of saints! (Revelation 19:7 and 8)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) had also likened the Israel of old to being His wife; He said:

31 Behold, the days come, saith Yahuah, that I will make a new covenant, with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, which covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith Yahuah! (Jeremiah 31:31 and 32)

Following this view of His disciples with the analogy of the cloth and bottles, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) appears to have been addressing the newness of His disciples to the spiritual truth that had been the heritage of the children of Israel for centuries! He wrote, through His psalmist:

142 Thy law is the truth; and 151 all Thy commandments are truth. (Psalm 119:142 and 151)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):

2 The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do! (Matthew 23:2 and 3)

But "the scribes and the Pharisees" and the priests of Israel were the "old cloth" and the "old bottles", who were becoming disturbingly pressured by the fermentation of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s "new truth" through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ)!

As does the "new wine" from grapes, it had the same basic ingredients and power to nourish as had the "old wine"; but the new fermentation of Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ)'s fresh delivery of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s truth could not be contained by the older generation among the children of Israel, who had only known Yahuah's Torah, law and covenant and their traditional understanding of it, to which Yahuah had brought through Yeshua a new and clearer understanding, to which they had responded: "This is an hard saying! Who can hear it?" (John 6:60)

This disparity of understanding is also true of the differences one sees between generations in families and communities! The older generation is, more often than not, encrusted by ideas that have been imposed upon them by the clamor of ungodly voices that surrounds each of us, from childhood up through the remainder of our lives! Only the rare young person or person still young in spirit holds to the truth that was given him by Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) about Himself even before the birth of His beloved child! He wrote, through His psalmist:

9 Thou art He Who took me out of the womb! Thou didst make me hope, when I was upon my mother's breasts! 10 I was cast, upon Thee, from the womb! Thou art my God, from my mother's belly! (Psalm 22:9 and 10)

This truth about our beginning with the knowledge of and faith in Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) was then reflected by Him, when He made reference through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) to "these little ones who believe in Me"! (Matthew 18:6)

These "little ones" are the "new cloth" and "new bottles", who can handle the truth of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) in its undiminished glory, while those who have opened up to the spiritual lies of people obeying the voices of devils become hard, infexible and unable to handle Yahuah's constant revelations of new truth; and they "tear" or "break" under the strain created by the impact of that truth upon them.

One of the families in our fellowship contains, among its members, old and new, a prime example of this difference between new and old cloth and bottles! The father of the family has permitted himself, over many years, to hear and obey the voices of lying devils! And, as a result of that misdirection, he has become hard and unflexible, unable to understand, for the life of him, why the younger members of his family say and do things that upset his rigid understanding of how things should be!

So the father becomes angry, domineering, threatening, alienating and ugly, in his conduct toward the younger members of the family, who, being "new cloth" and "new bottles" are able to handle new ideas and the truth of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) that they hear in their hearts but have yet to undergo the "fermentation" that ages and makes "mellow", "tasteful" and "valuable" the truth they sense and vocalize but with the crudeness and harshness typical of youth, who have not had the rough edges smoothed off them, as do stones that have been rolled down the beds of streams for years!

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) had called Peter, one of Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ)'s disciples, to leadership in the "church" (Matthew 16:18) that He said through Yeshua He would "build"! (Verse 18) But, as with "new cloth" and "new bottles", Peter, too, was impetuous, hard of hearing and had some rough edges yet to be worn off him; so Yeshua said, to him:

31 Behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat! 32 But I have prayed, for thee, that thy faith fail not! And, when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren! (Luke 22:31 and 32)

That loving intercession is, exactly, what I have given in behalf of this family! By my "faith in God" (Mark 11:22) I have spoken (Verse 23) to the father "in spirit and in truth" (John 4:23) and commanded him to be returned to his "first love" (Revelation 2:4), the one he had when he was "one of these little ones who believe in Me"! (Matthew 18:6)

And by the same faith I have spoken (Mark 11:23) to the young people of that precious family, in the same "spirit and truth", and commanded them to be strong yet flexible in their newness, to hold the "new cloth" and the "new wine" of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s uncompromised truth while continuing to love their father, despite his hardening and blinding incrustations, in accord with Yahuah's commandment through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) to "love", "bless", "do good to" and "pray for" one's "enemies"! (Matthew 5:44)

I pray that this information I have given you is true in Yahuah Hayah's sight, that it can be stored in your spirit for great and beneficial use to you as the days go by and that we might hear from you now and then as you find it working its wonders in your life!

Father, by my "faith in God" (Mark 11:22), I "speak" (Mark 11:23), to Your children, and command that they be given the knowledge and understanding of Your truth by which to relate lovingly and understandingly with the older and less flexible members of their family and community!

I rejoice (John 15:11) that You are faithful to fulfill Your children's powerful use of their "dominion ... over every living thing that moveth upon the Earth"! (Genesis 1:28) I know you answered this prayer, in ha Kodesh Ruach, Your Holy Spirit, the moment I said it; so I "believe" I "receive" (Mark 11:24), even now, a family of brothers and sisters who are rejoicing over the effectiveness and magnificent privilege of loving even the most difficult neighbors among them, for the sake of their Father Who is in Heaven, Who loves all His children and wants all of them to live forever with Him in His glorious kingdom!

I pray that Yahuah Hayah shall bless you mightily, throughout the coming week, and that you will realize in your heart how important you are to the ministry that He has given to Faith Harvest Israel to see that His truth is learned, believed and carried out by all His children throughout the world, so many of whom are in such desperate need of it.

Amen! Alleluia!
