The Disobedient Son

Hi! I'm Pastor Floyd! I wish I had a photograph of you, too, so that I could visualize to whom I am talking! But Yahuah Hayah, the Self-Existent, Eternal I AM, Creator of the universe and King over it, knows who you are; and that's all that matters!

At this point in your participation in the service, I recommend that you go to Sabbath Ritual and participate in the prayer in which we like to engage each week, as I do each morning, to avail ourselves of Yahuah Hayah's "Power of Agreement" (Matthew 18:19) for the basic things that all of us must have each day of our lives! Although repetitious and time-consuming, doing that will bless you, the fellowship and all of His children in the universe! It is what some people call "getting prayed up"!

As for the thoughts that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) gave me for this Sabbath, some of us know that He gave, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses, His children, in His Torah or law, a fundamental offering of "blessings" (Deuteronomy 28:2), which He later defined as His "life" (Deuteronomy 30:19; 32:47) for them; and, when He sent Yeshua to walk and teach among them, He clarified, through Yeshua, that His "life" was "eternal"! (Matthew 19:16)

By the time of Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ)'s arrival among the children of Israel, they had strayed so far from Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s covenant with them that He spoke through His prophet of it as being "the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, which covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith Yahuah!" (Jeremiah 31:32)

A broken covenant needs to be fixed, which Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) did by sending Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) as His "Lamb" (John 1:29), with the blood of Whom He would solemnize His "new covenant with the house of Israel"! (Jeremiah 31:31; Matthew 26:28) Watching or hearing about men torturing and killing the loving "Word" (John 1:1) and "only begotten Son" (John 3:16) of Yahuah the Father would cause anyone to be solemn - in fact, appalled - that any members of our race would commit such an outrageous injustice against a man who only "went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the Devil; for God was with Him." (Acts 10:38) In fact, He "was God". (John 1:1)

The expressed purpose of all performances of the "atonement" (Numbers 15:28) of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s Torah or law, in which an innocent lamb was always violated by being bled to death, was to "make him who did the service perfect as pertaining to the conscience" (Hebrews 9:9); because the violence done to the innocent lamb showed the violence that sin does to Yahuah, who like the lamb is not worthy of that abuse; and, when Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) had been thus violated in the worst possible way, Yahuah wrote, through His author:

How much more shall the blood of Christ ... purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s promise that "all these blessings" (Deuteronomy 28:2) would "come on thee and overtake thee" (Verse 2) and thus His "life", which is "eternal" could only be enjoyed by those who"shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of Yahuah, thy God, to observe to do all His commandments"! (Dueteronomy 28:1) That's being the case, one must know Yahuah's commandments and why He requires them of His children, to be able to "observe" them, which means to "guard" (Strong: Hebrew: 8104) or put a value on them; He said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses:

46 Set your hearts, unto all the words that I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law! 47 For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life! (Deuteronomy 32:46 and 47)

With the obeying of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s Torah or law having such a vital importance for each of us, I believe it is time that we looked at some of them, to learn enough about them to "keep" (Exodus 20:6) or "observe" (Deuteronomy 6:25) them, both of which mean to "guard" (Strong: Hebrew: 8104) or put a value on them; and some of them are not easy to understand or to obey, such as Yahuah Hayah's commandment concerning the disobedient son! He said, through Moses:

18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother and who, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them, 19 then shall his father and his mother lay hold, on him, and bring him out, unto the elders of his city and unto the gate of his place! 20 And they shall say, unto the elders of his city, This, our son, is stubborn and rebellious! He will not obey our voice! He is a glutton and a drunkard! 21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die! So shalt thou put evil away from among you. (Deuteronomy 21:18 to 21)

If you are a father or mother of son who will not do what you ask, are you ready to have him executed?

Yet, did Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) ask anything of His parental children that He was not ready and willing to do Himself? Consider this part of Yahuah's Torah or law:

If thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of Yahuah, thy God, to observe to do all His commandments, (Deuteronomy 28:15)

Yahuah shall send, upon thee, cursing, vexation and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed and until thou perish quickly, because of the wickedness of thy doings whereby thou hast forsaken Me. (Deuteronomy 28:20)

Indeed, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) is decisive about what He does either to bless or to curse His children, according to whether or not they are observing, guarding or putting a value on the commandments of His Torah or law!

But human parents are subject to error! They do not always do things wisely, including what they ask of their children! Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s inclusion through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) through Moses of the charge "He is a glutton and a drunkard!" helps to establish the kind of situation that Yahuah regards as seriously amiss in a son's relationship with his parents!

The son Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) regards as worthy of stoning has for whatever reason become completely absorbed in self indulgence without contributing to the needs of the family! This son only takes and never gives! He is in violation of Yahuah's "First and Great Commandment" (Matthew 22:38) to love Him (Deuteronomy 6:5) and one's neighbor! (Leviticus 19:18) Such a son is failing to love Yahuah by disregarding His commandment "Honor thy father and thy mother" (Exodus 20:12) and failing to love the parents by refusing to do anything they ask of him, inexcusably ignoring their having brought him into the world and cared for him all the years of his life!

But I have seen families in which children refuse to obey their parents after being abused by the parents. What is one to do with that kind of situation?

One of the things overlooked by people who complain about the bible's Creator and King and the severity of the judgments He has put into His Torah or law is the fact that all civil punishments commanded by Him are to be administered by His judges (Exodus 22:9), who presumably are righteous men guided by Him in their determinations!

In the specific commandment we are looking at, the frustrated and distraught parents of the rebellious son are to plead their case before "the elders of his city"! And several men of age are likely to judge a situation fairly after listening carefully to what both parties of the action have to say! Have the parents "chastened" the wayward son, as the commandment requires? Have they treated him with supportiveness, decency and respect? Such things make a big difference in how children behave!

And then we have Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s commandment to love one's neighbor! (Leviticus 19:18) Is it loving to stone him? Yahuah said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) that one is even to love his "enemies"! (Matthew 5:44) Yeshua set the example of allowing wicked men to torture and kill Him, having told His disciples: "Whosoever doth not bear his cross and come after Me, cannot be My disciple!" (Luke 14:27) And, when He had risen as a gloriously resurrected man, He appeared, to His disciples, and said: "As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you!" (John 20:21)

A "cross" represented the ultimate abuse of anyone possible in Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ)'s day among Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s children! It was torture unto death! Are parents to suffer the ultimate abuse possible by a son's having become callously indifferent to them?

Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) said, of Moses: "He wrote of Me!" He was "the Word" (John 1:1) "in the beginning!" (Verse 1) And He "was God"! (Verse 1) So He was the One Who gave Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s Torah or law to Moses, with all its severe judgments! Yet, when He came in person, He spoke of suffering abuses by the people whom Yahuah's Torah condemns! Yahuah said, through Yeshua:

39 Resist not evil! But whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also! 40 If any man will sue thee at the law and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also! 41 Whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain! 42 Give to him who asketh thee, and from him who would borrow of thee turn not thou away! (Matthew 5:39 to 42)

What about the son about whom Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) told through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) who wanted his father's inheritance before his father had even died and who immediately went out and "wasted his substance with riotous living"? (Luke 15:13) The end of that story is happy, the father's welcoming the wayward son back with great joy! Yahuah said, through Yeshua, of the son's return:

20 When he was yet a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 And the son said, unto him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and in thy sight and am no more worthy to be called thy son! 22 But the father said, to his servants, Bring forth the best robe and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet! 23 Bring hither the fatted calf and kill it; and let us eat and be merry! 24 For this, my son, was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found! (Luke 15:20 to 24)

How would that story have ended had the father reacted to his son's wanting his inheritance early only to squander it "with riotous living" by taking him before the elders of his city and having him stoned?

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) taught, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), His children to have great patience with abusive or selfish people right before commanding them to love even their enemies! So what happened to the severe civil judgments of His Torah or law?

I believe the answer lies in understanding the difference between what one does as an individual and what Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s government does in relation to actions that He regards as "evil", when His children choose to use that remedy! He said, many times, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses: "So shalt thou put evil away from among you." (Deuteronomy 21:21; 22:21; 24:7)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses: "Yahuah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahuah, our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day!" (Deuteronomy 6:24)

Some things Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) will not tolerate, among His children; and a rebellious, self-indulgent son is one of them; and the fear of that intolerance for "evil" in a son or in anyone else, for that matter, is "for our good always"! At the same time, He knows that for those of us who are willing to suffer abuse without retaliating, the result can be rewarding, in seeing our "enemies" become friends and enter back into the fellowship of their people and into Yahuah's kingdom!

But the world does not understand that way of saving others and ourselves in the process; one motion picture after another comes from the Hollywood producers showing unthinkable violence and mayhem as the "solution" of mankind's problems!

I doubt that few of us would have the hardness of heart to cause the execution of their own son! But Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) has offered that remedy for those who have had all they can take!

At the same time, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) has a special place in His heart for those who are willing to bear their "cross" and follow Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ)'s amazing example! For that does allow for the possibility of saving sons or daughters who have gone astray in their handling of personal problems! And Yeshua said: "It is not the will of your Father Who is in Heaven that one of these little ones should perish!" (Matthew 18:14)

If parents have asked their son to break one of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s commandments and are trying to use Yahuah's Torah or law to force the son to comply, any righteous court would be on the side of the son! So our confidence can lie in the fact that Yahuah's "judgments are true and righteous, altogether"! (Psalm 19:9)

Likewise, for parents to look to themselves for possibly causing difficult behavior in their children is the more rewarding approach to solving such difficulties! And, when dealing with other neighbors who have become enemies by their actions against us, to understand that their parents could well have contributed to that enmity against their neighbors goes a long way to foster the patience that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) taught through both Moses and Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ): for Yahuah taught, through Yeshua:

3 Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. (Matthew 7:3 to 5)

For those of us who love Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM), His "shield and exceedingly great reward" (Genesis 15:1) is ours! So we are wise to love Him and seek His way of resolving our difficulties, thus being free of the painful complications that arise when we forget Him and His ways; He wrote, through His prophet:

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to Me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children! (Hosea 4:6)

Lest one suppose that Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ)'s teaching of love for and patience with the enemy was unknowable through Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s Torah or law, consider the careful language of His commandment to love one's neighbor!

Thou shalt not avenge nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people! But thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself! I am Yahuah! (Leviticus 19:18)

What kind of person would one want to "avenge" or "bear any grudge against"? Is it not a person who has hurt us in some way?

So what kind of person is it that even Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s original commandment to love one's neighbor was intended to benefit?

So loving one's enemy has always been Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s preference, even while having provided a way of dealing with the enemy through the civil actions of His government, should one want to use them.

We have choices we can make; Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses: "Choose life!" (Deuteronomy 30:19) And one can embrace His life by using His Torah or law against those who are giving us problems!

But then Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) seems to have offered us an even higher choice: He said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ): "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me!" (Luke 9:23)

Indeed, to the rich young man who wanted to know "What shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" (Mark 10:17), Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):

Go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven! And come, take up the cross and follow Me! (Mark 10:21)

In Mark's version of this story, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) admitted, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), that giving "to the poor" is like being crucified! They are people who, for whatever reason have suffered the lack of Yahuah's "shield and exceedingly great reward" (Genesis 15:1) and have become a drain on and a trial to everyone around them. In a sense, they have even become our "enemies"!

But, when we choose to "take up the cross and follow" Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), we partake of His reward for having gone to the cross, which was to be gloriously resurrected! And make no mistake about it: that way has been available since Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s law has existed! And it did so even before Abraham! Yahuah said, to Isaac, Abraham's son:

4 In thy seed shall all the nations of the Earth be blessed! 5 Because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My law! (Genesis 26:4 and 5)

Did not Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) say, "Before Abraham was, I AM"? (John 8:58)

The blessing of all nations was to come through those who kept Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s Torah or law! But the supreme reward of a resurrected life in Yahuah comes to those who read the small print of that law and, reading His magnificent heart, discern His higher levels of reward; He said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of Heaven! But whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew 5:19)

The one breaking "these least commandments" or even teaching that error would have to be he who was doing so "through ignorance"! (Numbers 15:27) For Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses, concerning "the soul who doeth ought presumptuously" (Verse 30)

30 that soul shall be cut off from among his people! 31 Because he hath despised the word of the Lord and hath broken His commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him. (Numbers 15:30 and 31)

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) wrote, through Solomon: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom!" (Proverbs 9:10) But the "end" of wisdom or its fullest expression is that which one gains by following Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ)! Yahuah wrote, through His apostle:

21 Hereunto were ye called! because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps! 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth! 23 Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again! When He suffered, He threatened not but committed Himself to Him Who judgeth righteously! 24 Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by Whose stripes ye were healed!(1st Peter 2:21 to 24)

Yeshua ha Mawshiyach's "stripes" did not heal us merely because He received them; they healed us by His showing us that, if we receive our stripes in the same meek and trusting way that He did, we will follow Him in the glorious resurrection with which Yahuah Hayah rewarded Him! For "The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous, altogether!" (Psalm 19:9)

I pray that this information I have given you is true in Yahuah Hayah's sight, that it can be stored in your spirit for great and beneficial use to you as the days go by and that we might hear from you now and then as you find it working its wonders in your life!

Father, by my "faith in God" (Mark 11:22), I "speak" (Mark 11:23), to Your children, and command that they be given the knowledge and understanding of Your Torah by which to appreciate the amazing wisdom of Your commandments!

I rejoice (John 15:11) that You are faithful to fulfill Your children's powerful use of their "dominion ... over every living thing that moveth upon the Earth"! (Genesis 1:28) I know you answered this prayer, in ha Kodesh Ruach, Your Holy Spirit, the moment I said it; so I "believe" I "receive" (Mark 11:24), even now, a family of brothers and sisters who are rejoicing over the carefulness You exercise through Your Torah to "put evil away from among" them but far more importantly the way You provide through Your law to achieve the highest reward You are capable of giving, which is to be like Him in the resurrected state!

I pray that Yahuah Hayah shall bless you mightily, throughout the coming week, and that you will realize in your heart how important you are to the ministry that He has given to Faith Harvest Israel to see that His truth is learned, believed and carried out by all His children throughout the world, so many of whom are in such desperate need of it.
