Humility before Yahuah Hayah
(Please note: This sermon can be directly accessed on the Internet at http://www.honorhislaw.com/Sabbath 20160109.htm)
Hi! I'm Pastor Floyd! I wish I had a photograph of you, too, so that I could visualize to whom I am talking! But Yahuah Hayah, the Self-Existent, Eternal I AM, the Creator of the universe and King over it, knows who you are; and that's all that matters!
At this point in your participation in the service, I recommend that you go to Sabbath Ritual and participate in the prayer in which we like to engage each week, as I do each morning, to avail ourselves of Yahuah Hayah's "Power of Agreement" (Matthew 18:19) for the basic things that all of us must have each day of our lives! Although repetitious and time-consuming, doing that will bless you, the fellowship and all of His children in the universe! It is what some people call "getting prayed up"!
As for the thoughts that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) gave me for this Sabbath, He said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ): "Every one who exalteth himself shall be abased; and he who humbleth himself shall be exalted!" (Luke 18:14)
Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) wrote, through His recorder that "Moses was very meek, above all the men who were upon the face of the Earth!" (Numbers 12:3) Yet Moses was the man He chose to lead His people out of bondage!
So, from the Word He has given us in His Holy Bible, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) has made it clear that He honors the child of His who is humble, who sees the value of humility before Yahuah; so in this sermon I shall endeavor to show why humility before Him is so important!
Understanding what humility or one's being humble is would be helpful, at this point; and a measure of that understanding can be seen in the words of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) when He said "Every one who exalteth himself shall be abased; and he who humbleth himself shall be exalted!" (Luke 18:14) For in this saying, He shows that the opposite of humbling one's self is to exalt one's self; and "exalt" is a translation of a word that means "to elevate" (Strong: Greek: 5312) or "lift up" (5312)
We regard people among us as "high" or "low" in relation to how well others think of them, which usually is the result of their having served their community in some notable way, whether to defend it, feed it or accommodate significantly any number of their needs! Soldiers are honored for their bravery in the defense of their country! Scientists are honored for their having discovered new ways of blessing mankind. And workers who have served their company well for a number of years are honored or "lifted up" in the eyes of those attending such ceremonies!
But Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said that a problem enters in for a child of His "who exalteth himself" (Luke 18:14) or tries to gain esteem for himself that others have not recognized or seen fit to honor!
Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s remedy for that presumptuousness in His children is to "abase" the one who lifts up himself; and "abase" is a translation of a word meaning "to depress" or "humiliate"! (Strong: Greek: 5013)
I once knew a man who was a small boy when he grew up and who therefore was bullied, by larger boys in the neighborhood, which caused him to have a low opinion of himself (some call that "low self esteem")! And, as he got older, he developed the habit of boasting of himself, pointing out to others his many virtues and their many vices, at least as he viewed them, all of that obviously being to lift himself up or compensate for this low regard for himself.
When he got older, this unwise social habit of the insecure young man affected how girls reacted to him; and, although they thought he was nice looking, they could not get serious about him, the way he behaved toward them and others around him; and that problem with the girls in his life simply exasperated the problem, causing him to feel all the more deficient and all the more needing to build himself up and beat others down in his conversations with them.
This man finally did get married, with a woman who herself had problems and therefore was willing to overlook his; and, enjoying her pregnancies, she bore him several children! So, then, another outgrowth of this man's deficiency syndrome emerged, which was to carefully control the members of his family in everything that they did, to see to it that their conduct kept him satisfied that he was not so deficient after all.
But that "micromanagement" of his family's affairs also became a contributing factor in the syndrome, because people resent being told everything they can and cannot do, which of course is appropriate when they are very young and unable to judge what is safe or dangerous to them; but, as they get older and able to think for themselves, they appreciate being given the right to decide things for themselves! And, when for some strange reason they do not understand that right is denied them, they become frustrated, resentful and ultimately depressed and dysfunctional, which then effects the parent with his set of problems; and the whole situation gets from bad to worse!
The result of this man's behavior toward his family was to create circumstances that became a serious "syndrome" or a situation where things keep getting worse because what one is doing to compensate for a deficiency causes the deficiency itself to become more and more painful!
Boasting of his own virtues and constantly pointing out what he felt were the vices or weaknesses of others, this father caused his family not to like him, to avoid him and to refuse to cooperate with him, even though he may have been exerting himself to the point of exhaustion, doing things for them in obedience to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM), Whose voice he heard sometimes when it did not conflict with his self-exalting determinations!
These sad events tightened the vicious circle and brought the circumstances of this man's life close to destroying him; but he finally told his pastor about this strange development in his life; so the pastor prayed for him and ministered Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM)'s word to him concerning how Yahuah abases those who exalt themselves and exalts them who humble themselves. (Luke 18:14)
The pastor told his distraught friend that the only thing that would ever turn that situation around would be for the oppressed father to realize what he was doing and why he was doing it, repent of it and, having given his personal deficiency to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) to help him overcome it, go to the now oppressed members of his family, approaching them on a completely different basis!
The pastor explained that his friend needed to express his sorrow that he had mistakenly boasted of his own virtues and spoken often of what he had felt were his family's faults, assuring them that he would be praying for them, for whatever he felt they needed to improve upon in their own lives, and that he had given up forever the idea of cutting them off from himself, no matter what their behavior toward him might be, in view of his everlasting love for them as their father!
When the broken man finally did turn his perplexity over to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM), the Creator and King Who had made him and was giving him the breath of life, Who loved him and was ever ready to help any child of His who in desperation was ready to humble himself, things began to change!
First of all the changed man's wife was relieved of a great anxiety she had been suffering, for all the strange difficulties that had been going on in the family; and then the younger members of the family began to see that their father had indeed given over his problems to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) and was waiting upon them to change their attitude toward him, which with the help of ha Kodesh (the Holy) Ruach (Spirit) they eventually did, realizing that he would no longer be bragging and harping on what he had felt were their faults, that he was willing to wait patiently for them to give him the cooperation that he had to have and that he really did love them and would no longer be threatening to hurt them, that it was, indeed, a new day in their family!
These things being true, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) brought, to me, another level of appreciation for Him and for the humility that He desires in His children; because only in recogniIng our utter dependancy upon Him, which is the ultimate humility, can He move freely to fulfill His desire for each one of us, which we call His "will"! Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) said:
Doing Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) will is the ultimate humility! It requires that one realize that what Yahuah commands His children to do is "for our good always" (Deuteronomy 6:24) and that moving on our notion apart from His direction is anything other than "for our good".
Doing Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) will being this infinitely superior way to go, the child of His who is doing His will enters "into the kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 5:20); and that is the spiritual environment in which all His blessings are enjoyed! He said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):
"The kingdom of God" is wherever His Spirit can be seen doing His wonderful works! His "kingdom" and His "Spirit" are inseparable! They are two sides of a coin! And Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):
So humility before Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) is hearkening "unto the voice of Yahuah, thy God, to observe and to do all His commandments " (Deuteronomy 28:1), in which case "all these blessings shall come on thee and overtake thee" (Verse 2), which is the evidence that one indeed has entered "into the kingdom of Heaven! (Matthew 5:20)", which Yahuah calls "righteousness"! (Verse 20) And He said, through Moses:
I pray that this information I have given you is true in Yahuah Hayah's sight, that it can be stored in your spirit for great and beneficial use to you as the days go by and that we might hear from you now and then as you find it working its wonders in your life!
I pray that Yahuah Hayah shall bless you mightily, throughout the coming week, and that you will realize in your heart how important you are to the ministry that He has given to Faith Harvest Israel to see that His truth is learned, believed and carried out by all His children throughout the world, so many of whom are in such desperate need of it.
