Do you know what Faith Harvest Israel was thinking on this Sabbath?
Welcome to the page on which Pastor Floyd talks about
Thoughts for the Sabbath of
2016 August 27
(Please note: This sermon can be directly accessed on the Internet at enterhiscovenant.com/Sabbath20160827.htm)
Hi! I'm Pastor Floyd! I wish I had a photograph of you, too, so that I could visualize to whom I am talking! But Yahuah Hayah, the Self-Existent, Eternal I AM, Creator of the universe and King over it, knows who you are; and that's all that matters!
At this point in your participation in the service, I recommend that you go to Sabbath Ritual and participate in the prayer in which we like to engage each week, as I do each morning, to avail ourselves of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) "Power of Agreement" (Matthew 18:19) for the basic things that all of us must have each day of our lives! Although repetitious and time-consuming, doing that will bless you, the fellowship and all of His children in the universe! It is what some people call "getting prayed up"!
As for the thoughts that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) gave me for this Sabbath, the idea of people warring against each other by killing each other in the battlefield troubles me; and I want to share with you the reason why! And I must confess that two recent sermons I wrote give rise to the question: Is war the will of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) for His childlren? Or is it not?
You may remember that I wrote a sermon for August 6 on "Loving Your Enemy"! and then for August 20 I wrote "The Truth about Free Will" in which I used Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) promises through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) through Moses concerning war to show what is and what is not "free will"!
The troublesome thing about these two considerations, loving the enemy and then fighting him in the battlefield with Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) blessings, is obvious! How does one "love the enemy" and then kill him in the battlefield? Yet, in Yahuah's Torah or law through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) through Moses either winning in the battlefield (Deuteronomy 28:7) or losing (Verse 25) are results He gives for whether one is blessed or cursed!
That then gives rise to another question: If winning on the battlefield is one of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) "blessings" (Deuteronomy 28:2), how does one do that while loving his neighbor (Leviticus 19:18), including the one whom one would want to "avenge" or "bear any grudge against" (Verse 18), which would have to be "the enemy"?
One might take notice that the commandment to love relates to "the children of thy people" (Leviticus 19:18)
But, if that is a limitation on how far one's love is to extend, what happened to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) promise to Abraham that "in thy seed shall all the nations of the Earth be blessed"? (Genesis 22:18) How does one bless whom he has fought to the death on the battlefield?
The same question can be asked of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) "Great Commission" through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ): "19 Go ... and teach all nations ... 20 ... to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19 and 20) How does one "teach all nations" whose sons one has killed on the battlefield as a part of his own "blessings" under Yahuah?
The most tragic part of seeing war as "the will of God" is that over the centuries people have indeed gone to war, believing that they were doing Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) a favor in "correcting" the people against whom they have gone wielding weapons of destruction!
Throughout biblical history "the children of Israel" have been formidable enemies toward various people around them. When "Amalek ... fought with Israel in Rephidim" (Exodus 17:8), "Moses said, unto Joshua, Choose us out men, go out and fight with Amalek! Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand." (Verse 9) "And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed." (Verse 11)
From that incident one might surmise that if an enemy attacks you, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) is in favor of His children's defending themselves with weapons of war! But, "Yahuah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: 19 The Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaims, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites!" (Genesis 15:18 to 21)
From that passage, one can surmise one of the reasons for Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) giving that land to His children; speaking of His freeing them from bondage in Egypt, He said, to Abraham: "In the fourth generation they shall come hither again! For the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full!" (Genesis 15:16) So Yahuah seems to have used His children to bring His judgment on another people", "for the iniquity of the Amorites"!
In another incident we learn that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) highly honored a man who had killed one of his own people along with a woman of Midian!
When the time came that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) wanted His children to go in to "the promised land", He had them take Jericho! And they "utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox, sheep and ass, with the edge of the sword!" And so began a series of vicious conquests that involved the killing of all who were in the cities that Yahuah had marked for destruction! (Joshua 10:28 to 39)
This is the fierce history of the children of Israel, according to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) Holy Bible! And, when Yahuah sent Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) to teach among His children, Yeshua said, of Moses: "If ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe My words?" (John 5:47)
Yet Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach's (the Messiah's or Christ's) "words" contain Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) teaching to "44 Love your enemies, bless them who curse you, do good to them who hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that ye may be the children of your Father Who is in Heaven! For He maketh His sun to rise, on the good and on the evil, and sendeth rain, on the just and on the unjust!" (Matthew 5:44 and 45)
Based on that idea, Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) also taught: "39 resist not evil! But whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also! 40 If any man will sue thee at the law and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also! 41 Whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain! 42 Give to him who asketh thee, and from him who would borrow of thee turn not thou away! (Matthew 5:39 to 42)
Yet, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) wrote, through His prophet, of His "New Covenant with the house of Israel" (Jeremiah 31:31): "I will put My law in their inward parts and write it in their hearts!" (Verse 33) And His "covenant" is "everlasting" (Psalm 105:10) about which He said: "He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word that He commanded to a thousand generations!" (Verse 8)
So something seems to be missing, in bridging Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) judgments upon nations, which sometimes requires war against them, and the conduct of individuals toward others, which meticulously avoids judgment; Yahuah said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ): "Judge not, that ye be not judged!" (Matthew 7:1)
In the great vision Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) gave him, John "11 saw Heaven opened, and behold a white horse! And He Who sat upon him was called Faithful and True! And in righteousness He doth judge and make war! 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns! And He had a name written, which no man knew but He Himself! 13 He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood! And His name is called The Word of God! 14 The armies who were in Heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean! 15 And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations! He shall rule them with a rod of iron! And He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God! 16 And he hath, on His vesture and on His thigh, a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!" (Revelation 19:11 to 16)
Obviously, judgment belongs to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM), Who expresses it through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), Who is His "express image"! (Hebews 1:3)
But, we, too, are created "in the image of God"! (Genesis 1:27) So, if judgment is one of God's attributes, we can be expected to want judgment in matters relating to the conduct of people around us. Movie makers rely on that sense of fairness in their audiences, as they portray the villains violating justice and being set straight by the heroes!
So I would have to view Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) commandment through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) "Judge not that ye be not judged!" (Matthew 7:1) as a caution against making judgments based on personal opinions or "axes to grind".
The One Who "in righteousness ... doth judge and make war" was followed by "the armies who were in Heaven"! And they were "clothed in fine linen, white and clean"! (Revelation 19:14) "For the fine linen is the righteousness of saints!" (Verse 8)
So I must conclude that our "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS" (Revelation 19:16) will be assisted, in His judging and making war, by those Who have been brought to be with Him in Heaven! And that would be the fulfillment of their godly nature to judge, as led by Him Who has Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) authority to "judge and make war".
In the marvelous psalm of comfort that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) wrote through His psalmist, He declared: "1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity! 2 For they shall soon be cut down, like the grass, and wither, as the green herb!" (Psalm 37:1 and 2) But He does not say how they will be "cut down"; He simply advises: "3 Trust in Yahuah and do good! So shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed! 4 Delight thyself also in Yahuah; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart!" (Verse 3 and 4)
And that, my dear friends, is where I am going to have to leave this vexing discussion! because I cannot think of a single thing better than the above amazing counsel that answers and satisfies what we are to do about the injustices that we repeatedly see in the world around us.
Although we are not to judge or make war ourselves as individuals, I believe Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) Holy Bible shows us that He does use nations to judge nations that have exceeded their bounds in greed or ambition; and that His "judgments ... are true and righteous altogether"! (Psalm 19:9), His having assured the individual, through His psalmist:
I pray that this information I have given you is true in Yahuah Hayah's sight, that it can be stored in your spirit for great and beneficial use to you as the days go by and that we might hear from you now and then as you find it working its wonders in your life!
I pray that Yahuah Hayah shall bless you mightily, throughout the coming week; and that you will realize in your heart how important you are to the ministry that He has given to Faith Harvest Israel to see that His truth is learned, believed and carried out by all His children throughout the world, so many of whom are in such desperate need of it.
