Personal Responsibility

(Please note: This sermon can be directly accessed on the Internet at

Hi! I'm Pastor Floyd! I wish I had a photograph of you, too, so that I could visualize to whom I am talking! But Yahuah Hayah, the Self-Existent, Eternal I AM, Creator of the universe and King over it, knows who you are; and that's all that matters!

At this point in your participation in the service, I recommend that you go to Sabbath Ritual and participate in the prayer in which we like to engage each week, as I do each morning, to avail ourselves of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) "Power of Agreement" (Matthew 18:19) for the basic things that all of us must have each day of our lives! Although repetitious and time-consuming, doing that will bless you, the fellowship and all of His children in the universe! It is what some people call "getting prayed up"!

As for the thoughts that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) gave me for this Sabbath, He pled, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses, with the children of Israel: "Choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live!" (Deuteronomy 30:19) And, in making that plea, He showed, through His Torah, law and covenant, that the responsibility for living well in His creation is squarely upon the shoulders of each person He has created!

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) children must choose between "life and death, blessing and cursing" (Deuteronomy 30:19); and whichever condition they choose by either hearkening or not hearkening to "the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all His commandments" (Deuteronomy 28:1), that will be what they experience, either that "all these blessings shall come on thee and overtake thee" (Verse 2) or "that all these curses shall come upon thee and overtake thee". (Verse 15)

Not many people understand the fact that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) gave, to each of us, His beloved children, a "dominion ... over every living thing that moveth upon the Earth"! (Genesis 1:28) And "dominion" is the authority that a king enjoys to rule over the land that has been given him, his word being the law of that land!

Does a king complain about what is going on in his land? Why should he? With his word being the law of the land, with which each subject in the land must comply, what is left to do other than to make another commandment in his law to remedy whatever seems to be wrong!

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) explained, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), how that "dominion" works, by saying: "Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that those things that he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith!" (Mark 11:23)

Obviously, the power of ha (the) Kodesh (Holy) Ruach (Spirit), the Spirit of our mighty Creator and King, would have to be the One moving so great a thing as a mountain! And that is the amazing power that Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) has committed to fulfilling whatever we, His children, command to be done to "every living thing that moveth upon the Earth"! (Genesis 1:28)

So, with that kind of power, the kind that flung the galaxies into their places and keeps them there, moment by moment, who can go around saying, It is that person's fault or that government's fault or that God's fault that I am suffering so many pains and frustrations in my life, when all along he or she has had the right and the privilege of commanding that kind of power to shape, correct or improve the circumstances of his life?

As this fellowship well knows, I have my problems with the writings of Paul! But he was certainly right on one thing, when he wrote, "19 That which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shown it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse! 21 because, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain, in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened!" (Romans 1:19 to 21)

One of the virtues that shirking personal responsibility compromises is the humility by which to listen when people try to tell you something. Always blaming someone or something else for one's problems keeps the accuser from supposing that any need exists for his listening to anyone! Presumably being the guilty ones, the others in one's life are the ones who should be listening to advice, the accuser believes, not he, who believes he can do no wrong!

To watch the stubborn resistance to correction of a person convinced of his own rightness is pathetic! But, again, if one does not like that fault in a neighbor, he can always use his dominion to speak to the stubborn one and command that he be delivered of that deception! So we observers who are so smart are "without excuse" as well, having the ability by our "faith in God" (Mark 11:22) to make a difference in the accuser's life!

Being an "accuser" in one situation after another is serving "that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world"! (Revelation 12:9) For he was called, by Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM), through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through His faithful apostle John, "the accuser of our brethren"! (Revelation 12:10) And those who serve him can always be counted upon to be "the accuser of our brethren" as well!

Instead of taking on himself the responsibility for having chosen between Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) "life and death, blessing and cursing" (Deuteronomy 30:19), the accuser imagines that others are the ones making the wrong choice and supposes that the error of the others is what is thrusting upon him the intolerable conditions of his own life! And, so long as that mistaken notion continues to determine such conditions for him, he will continue to suffer their unwillingness to depart from him, no matter what he does to get the presumably faulty ones around him to straighten out!

Anger is another typical part of the accuser's sad experience! Because he believes himself to be the helpless victim of those around him, he is forever exasperated by what he believes to be their impositions upon him; and he continually expresses that exasperation, by getting in the face of the presumably faulty ones around him, angrily expressing his displeasure with what he believes to have been their irresponsibility, carelessness, indifference, lack of love or whatever else he deems to be their "nature", himself resigned to their continuing affrontery toward him; because he, too, does not know the power of his dominion or, having been told of it, does not believe it is powerful and therefore lets it lie impotent without his faithful use of it to correct what he deems to be the problems of others around him.

Depression is another typical part of the accuser's sad experience, depression's being simply an internalized anger! When a person permits himself to get angry enough times with no knowledge of a true remedy in sight, he blocks it from his conscious mind and lets his spirit, "conscience" or "subconscious mind" do with it as he wills! And what a person's spirit wills whose idea of right and wrong has been badly corrupted is a badly managed behavior, which then determines, by Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) certain response to it, badly arranged circumstances in his life!

Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) curses the circumstances of the accuser's life; and science blames that problem on what they call "the sub-conscious mind"! And why does He "curse" the circumstances of the accuser? It is because He has said that is what He will do if His children fail to "choose life" (Deuteronomy 30:19), by choosing not to "hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all His commandments"! (Deuteronomy 30:19)

The accuser is not listening to Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) voice nor is the accuser observing to do the commandments of Yahuah's Torah, law and covenant! No one likes to have someone speak evil of him to his face or behind his back! And to be accused of being the cause of another's chronic ailments is, indeed, evil, especially when one knows that each of us must stand before his Creator and King and account for each thing he has done or failed to do; indeed, Yahuah said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):

Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof, in the Day of Judgment! (Matthew 12:36)

If no "idle word" gets by Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) Recorder, Who is ha (the) Kodesh (Holy) Ruach (Spirit), His "Spirit of truth" (John 14:17; 16:13), what of the sinful deeds that His children commit, in violation of His commandments? And what is obedient about refusing to "choose life" (Dueteronomy 30:19), when Yahuah Hayah has offered it for one's merely observing or putting a value on His commandments?

But to "choose life" (Dueteronomy 30:19) one must take responsibility for that choice; he must realize that it was his choice, that he made it and that no one made it for him. I"m all in favor of taking personal responsibility; aren't you?

In nothing is personal responsibility more vital or evident than in Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) provision through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) for the saving of His children! And, of course, we must establish, first of all, what He was trying to save them from! He said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ):

Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. (John 8:34)

The "servant" is one who is subject to whatever conditions are set by his master! And, if "sin" is his master, what can be the outcome other than to suffer the rewards of sin? And Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) wrote, through His faithful apostle: "Sin is the transgression of the law!" (1st John 3:4)

So the person who resorts to sinning becomes a transgressor of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) Torah, law and covenant! And such a person is subject to the judgments of the Lawgiver, which are hard on the transgressor! Yahuah said, through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ), through Moses:

Yahuah shall send, upon thee, cursing, vexation and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed and until thou perish quickly, because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken Me. (Deuteronomy 28:20)

Why Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) children would want to "forsake" their awesome Creator and King is beyond me; yet I have "been there done that"; so, mysterious or not, we all do it and we all sufffer the consequences for it, until we are "saved" from it; and that gets down to what Yahuah did through Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) to accomplish that.

Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) said: "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life!" (John 3:16)

So a person's believing Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) is the key to his not perishing but having "everlasting life"! And that is a tremendous difference either to suffer or to enjoy! So what did Yeshua say that was so important to believe?

"A picture is worth a thousand words!" is sometimes said; so we are well advised to ask what picture did Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) show that had such a powerful effect?

I submit that the picture worth a thousand of Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach's (the Messiah's or Christ's) words was the picture of Himself hanging on the Roman cross of crucifixion! But why would I say that?

The night He knew His enemies would be coming to arrest Him, Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) "27 took the cup, gave thanks and gave it, to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is My blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins!" (Matthew 26:27 and 28)

What was going to be so important about Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach's (the Messiah's or Christ's) blood that, when it was shed, it would be "for many for the remission of sins"? What is the connection between His blood's being shed and "the remission" or forgiveness of the "sins" of Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) children?

As my son Andy loves to say: "You have to connect the dots, to get the picture!"

Before Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) allowed His enemies to torture and kill Him, He said, to His disciples: "I am ... come to call ... sinners to repentance!" (Matthew 9:13) "Repent" (Matthew 4:17) means to "think differently"! And, since, "sinners" sin, they take part in "transgression of the law"! (1st John 3:4) And I am talking, here, about Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) Torah, law and covenant!

Then, when Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) had laid down His life, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) wrote, through His author: "How much more shall the blood of Christ ... purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" (Hebrews 9:14)

One's "conscience" is his "moral consciousness" (Strong: Greek: 4893) or his sense of right and wrong, which can only be obtained from what Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) has said is right and wrong in His Torah, law and covenant or by His voice in our spirits, which we call our "conscience". And, if it needs to be "purged", it obviously has been corrupted by wrong ideas about what is right or wrong.

One of the most troublesome ideas that can enter one's conscience is that to sin is alright! that it's no big deal! that we can do it without creating problems for ourselves, which Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah's (I AM's) word tells us is a great big and dangerous lie!

So what is one to think who either saw or heard about Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach's (the Messiah's or Christ's) being tortured and killed, when all He did was to go "about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil"? (Acts 10:38) That was outrageously unjust, was it not? Yet it was done to Yeshua, Who "was God"! (John 1:1) He said: He who hath seen Me hath seen the Father!"" (John 14:9)

In creating us, His beloved children, Yahuah (Self-Existent, Eternal) Hayah (I AM) knew that what we see together we associate and believe that one has to do with the other! The wicked men who shed Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach's (the Messiah's or Christ's) blood were sinning! And in their sinning they were hurting God!

Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) told Pilate, the Roman governor who was about to have him crucified: "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth! Every one who is of the truth heareth My voice!" (John 18:37) And the truth shown by those who crucified Yeshua is that sin hurts God!

Because of what wicked men did to Yeshua (Jesus) ha Mawshiyach (the Messiah or Christ) mankind would never be the same! We would always know that members of our race were capable of violating God beyond anything one can imagine! Anyone having been exposed to "the Gospel" or the story of what Yeshua allowed His enemies to do to Him cannot remain proud! His spirit cries out for the injustice that some of our kind committed against God! And in that realization we are faced with what any one of us is capable of doing! And we "repent" or "think differently" about it. We do not like it; we determine, in our spirits, never to do that ourselves! And in that determination we are saved!

But each one of us must take personal responsibility and make that determination for himself! Or the Gospel's power to save cannot affect him! In making that determination we do, indeed, "Choose life!" (Deuteronomy 30:19) So "personal responsibility" is a vital element in the salvation offered by our wonderful loving Creator and King!

I pray that this information I have given you is true in Yahuah Hayah's sight, that it can be stored in your spirit for great and beneficial use to you as the days go by and that we might hear from you now and then as you find it working its wonders in your life!

Father, by my "faith in God"! (Mark 11:22) I "speak" (Mark 11:23), to your children, and command that they be given the knowledge, understanding and desire to take personal responsibility for their actions for the fulfillment of Your magnificent will for them.

I rejoice (John 15:11) that you are faithful to fulfill your children's powerful use of their "dominion ... over every living thing that moveth upon the Earth"! (Genesis 1:28) I know you answered this prayer, in ha Kodesh Ruach, your Holy Spirit, the moment I said it; and I believe I "receive" (Mark 11:24) a family of brothers and sisters who are rejoicing over the wonderful blessings and eternal life in Your awesome presence that taking personal responsibility brings to them!

I pray that Yahuah Hayah shall bless you mightily, throughout the coming week, and that you will realize in your heart how important you are to the ministry that He has given to Faith Harvest Israel to see that His truth is learned, believed and carried out by all His children throughout the world, so many of whom are in such desperate need of it, not to mention our ministry of practical helps for the disadvantaged!

Amen! Alleluia!
